Short Film Making Project for KF ASEAN Culture House's Special Exhibition "2023 KONNECT ASEAN"

Busan Film Commission cordially invites submissions of short films for the special exhibition, . This project is a collaboration between Busan Film Commission and KF ASEAN Culture House, forming an integral part of the esteemed “2023 ASEAN-ROK Film Community Programme”.

Ⅰ. Exhibition Overview

○ Title: KF ASEAN Culture House's Special Exhibition "2023 KONNECT ASEAN”

○ Content: Featuring two main categories

1) The print artworks of 15 visual artists from ASEAN and Korea. These artists will  participate in a collaborative artist residency program.

2) Short films made by filmmakers from ASEAN countries. It is essential that these films revolve around the themes of "Paper" and "Print" to maintain coherence with the overall exhibition concept.

※ Category 1 does not apply to FLY alumni. Only Category 2 is eligible for application.

○ Exhibition Period: November 16 - February 17, 2024 (3 months)

○ Venue: ASEAN Culture House (Busan, Korea)

○ Hosts: KF ASEAN Culture House, ASEAN Foundation

○ Cooperation: Busan Film Commission, AFCNet, ASEAN Culture Centre, SOMCA

○ Sponsor: ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund

Ⅱ. Project Overview

This project aims to showcase a diverse range of films that explore the significance and artistic aspects of paper and print in various forms. Filmmakers are invited to submit their works, including fiction, documentary, experimental, and animation, that revolve around the theme of "Paper" or "Print". We encourage participants to delve into the cultural, historical, and contemporary contexts related to these subjects. Through this exhibition, we hope to highlight the beauty and versatility of paper and print as artistic mediums and their relevance in our society today.

Ⅲ. Support for the selected project
○ Short film production budget allocated for exhibition contents: Maximum US $5,000

Ⅳ. Important Dates
○ Submission for Project Proposal: June 5 – July 9, 2023
○ Selection Announcement: July 17, 2023
○ Production Period: July 17 – September 17, 2023

○ Submission Deadline of Exhibition Content: September 17, 2023

Ⅴ. Eligible Criteria

○ At least one of the staff must be alumni of ‘Film Leaders Incubator: FLY’ (Alumni must hold a significant role among Directing, Producing, Cinematography, Editing)
○ Nationality: Limited to citizens of the 10 ASEAN member nations (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam)

In the case of Thailand, it has been decided not to accept applications as per the agreement with the ASEAN Cultural House for the special project.

○ Application must be submitted by FLY Alumni

○ Number of Selections: 10 (1 finalist from each ASEAN member nation)

○ Evaluation Process: Document-based

○ Submitted documents will not be returned
○ Any false statements in the provided documents may lead to disqualification by the selection committee.

○ Final Screening Exhibition (MOV/MP4)

○ All ownership rights of the exhibition content belong to the ASEAN Cooperation Fund
