Short Film Making Project for KF ASEAN Culture House's 2024 Special Exhibition "Scent of ASEAN"

Busan Film Commission cordially invites submissions of short films for the special exhibition, . This project is a collaboration between Busan Film Commission and KF ASEAN Culture House, forming an integral part of the esteemed “2024 ASEAN-ROK Film Community Programme”.

Ⅰ. Exhibition Overview

○ Title: KF ASEAN Culture House's Special Exhibition "Scent of ASEAN”

○ Content: Short films made by filmmakers from ASEAN countries. It is essential that these films revolve around the themes of "Scent" to maintain coherence with the overall exhibition concept.

(ex. #spices #spice trade #incense #scent related to religious ceremony #flavours #scent from herbs #scent from flora&fauna

○ Exhibition Period: May 23 – July 27, 2024 (2 months)

○ Venue: KF ASEAN Culture House (Busan, Korea)

○ Host/Organizer: Korea Foundation (KF) ASEAN Culture House

○ Cooperation: Busan Film Commission

○ Sponsor: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ASEAN-KOREA Cooperation Fund

Ⅱ. Project Overview

Expressing the essence of ASEAN in the language of fragrance, this exhibition chronicles the multifaceted impact and changes that scents have had on the lives of ASEAN people from the past to the present and into the future. This exhibition explores the history, culture, climate, nature, religion, and economic implications of ASEAN comprehensively through a variety of scents, including spices, fruits, herbs, and incense.

Ⅲ. Support for the selected project
○ Short film production budget allocated for exhibition contents: Maximum US $5,000

Ⅳ. Important Dates
○ Submission for Project Proposal: January 29 – Feb 21, 2024
○ Selection Announcement: February 29, 2024
○ Production Period: March 4 – April 2, 2024

○ Submission Deadline of Exhibition Content: April 2, 2024

Ⅴ. Eligible Criteria

○ At least one of the staff must be alumni of ‘Film Leaders Incubator: FLY’ (Alumni must hold a significant role among Directing, Producing, Cinematography, Editing)
○ Nationality: Limited to citizens of the 10 ASEAN member nations (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam)

Ⅵ. Application Guidelines
○ Application must be submitted by FLY Alumni

○ Number of Selections: 10 (1 finalist from each ASEAN member nation)

※ If there are no suitable works from the country, it may not be selected
○ Application Method: E-mail Application (fly@filmbusan.kr)

○ Evaluation Process: Document-based

Ⅶ. Required Application Documents
○ Project Proposal (Attached)

※ Film Technical Specifications should comply with the followings

- Resolution: 16:9

- Duration: Approximately 10~15 minutes preferred

○ Budget Proposal (Self-form)

Ⅷ. Additional Information
○ Submitted documents will not be returned
○ Any false statements in the provided documents may lead to disqualification by the selection committee.

○ Final Screening Exhibition (MOV/MP4)

○ All ownership rights of the exhibition content belong to the ASEAN-KOREA Cooperation Fund
