ASEAN-ROK Film Community Programme
The ASEAN-ROK Film Community Program aims to strengthen the quality and global competitiveness of ASEAN cinema by promoting cultural exchange in film and audiovisual content between Korea and ASEAN member states.
It comprises four core initiatives:
- The ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator (FLY) fosters emerging talent and sets a new standard for film education.
- The FLY Post-Production Workshop provides advanced training in response to evolving production needs.
- Busan Film Commission X KF ASEAN Culture House Collaboration supports exhibitions and screenings to deepen ASEAN-ROK solidarity and global engagement.
- The FLY Film Festival, set for 2025, will celebrate a decade of program achievements.
Backed by the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF), the governments of ASEAN and Korea, and Busan Metropolitan City, the program has played a key role in developing Asia’s next generation of filmmakers and facilitating international co-productions. FLY alumni continue to gain recognition at major global film festivals, further expanding the region’s cinematic reach.
ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF)
Established in 1990 to deepen ASEAN-ROK relations, the AKCF has supported over 400 mutually agreed projects across areas such as technology transfer, economic development, human resource development, and people-to-people exchanges.
The ASEAN-ROK Film Community Program has yielded remarkable outcomes since its inception, made possible by the steadfast support of the AKCF.
